Concrete toilet

When I was asked to take care of the renovation of a ’50s bathroom, I immediately thought of concrete. Not only because it is one of my favorite materials, but also because the grays would not clash with the colors already in place and that was important, where possible, to maintain. The wall subway type tile naples yellow, with black band type skirting just above the floor, and the floor tiles itself (a grit black base), were the basic ingredients of the existing bathroom . The built- in black ceramic soap dish were another detail that I did not want to touch.
It was necessary, however, replace all fixtures including bathtub, present in a niche that would have to host a shower and washing machine. Since it was impossible to find the same tile floor, I imagined in concrete also the band below the new fixtures, which form an L running along two of the four walls. The shower I would have liked at the floor, but the floors would not allow it, so it has been raised and created in resin, to play a classic shower tray . Where removed tiles, was made the concrete wall (then treated with a waterproofing) and I colored a band on the wall with another shade of gray. Aluminium for the box shower, modern square shower head, whereas the mirror over the sink in the niche (always strictly concrete) is bevelled and chandelier is micro with crystals: the whole thing a bit ‘ vintage.
