Always a kitchen. Always in Rome.
A sunny and August Rome, crowded streets, however, and breathtaking scenery along the way.
A customer that knew what she wanted and a customer with the right taste, I would say. A choice, hers, that I was particularly keen because it started from the first kitchen I made, and when she wrote to me, she told me: “I want that.”
It seems a simple enough challenge, and indeed it was. But certainly exciting and in its linearity, it has also left me room for important decisions and the right of manual dose. In fact I rusted the iron for drawers and for the front of the dishwasher, decorated in cream the sink counters (which will be matched with Smeg fridge) and carefully chose the material for the structure that was to be that poplar of the choosen kitchen.
I also looked after the supply of home appliances (Smeg oven + hood and back chosen by the customer), Ikea sink, tap and dishwasher.
The condo where it has been inserted seems born for it: the room that will house the kitchen and living room has high ceilings, typical of the old houses in the center, and the wall on which it will be placed has been carefully peeled from old wallpaper and it has been left as it was.
A chromatic set of yellow and blue gray that leaves you breathless. The chosen floor is a large and rustic wooden floor on the light blue tones. And then the system of gas-fired, exposed, made with copper pipes that run high above the whole. Excellent choices.
And so the day has slipped through mounting tools, chat, sandwiches and the fundamental help of my co-worker Robbi, who puts together “my” pieces.
Among the photos below, some details of the kitchen (still to be completed: missing hood, back and refrigerator), the wall and the inner courtyard of access to the apartment, with its colors and summer light.
Thanks to Simona cause she entrusted and, above all, trusted me and my taste, and because thanks to her once again (the third one) in Rome I’ve created another quite original kitchen.
