Testing new materials

The challenge of doors in various materials is not over yet: my last experiment is to insert in one tv cabinet door, not only zinc, as I did, but old tin ceiling tiles.
They once (but also today) covered the ceilings of ancient New York apartments, they are thin square tiles printed in relief (the subjects are among the most diverse, more decorative and floral), and the vintage ones means enjoying finding the different paints spread layer upon layer over the decades, and see the peelings. The play of colors and overlapping are unique.
I wanted the small door seemed almost a painting, and definitely a unique piece.
I found these four small tiles perfect for the size of the door, and having to associate them to another door covered with zinc, I thought to cut into four squares the zinc too, in order to recreate a similar design and give symmetry.
The handles are then a touch of class: brass, definitely were part of old office furniture.
Tomorrow the tv cabinet will be complete and delivered, and I will take more photos. Although I must say that the most beautiful pieces are just the doors ….
