2017 Zanotti Calendar

As mentioned in the article of June ( read ), also 2017 Zanotti Calendar will be illustrated by me, and also this year the proceeds from sales will be donated to non-profit Soleterre. The Calendar will also be translated and printed in Japanese.
I can finally tell you in more detail the common thread that I wanted to choose this year, considering that I had to give space to the ideas already expressed: Children, World, Animals, Food. The risk was as always, and every year more, to lapse into banality.
So I decided to illustrate the most famous fairy tales, setting them in other places than the original ones. I then wanted to include in each image a product of the Earth as a symbol of something that travels from month to month and from continent to continent, while remaining cool in time and within everyone’s reach, which is the policy of Zanotti.
And the product that instinctively I imagined, wanting to remain connected to the fairytale theme and the idea of unity and whole, was the apple. So the apple is the fruit of Snow White, but also the forbidden fruit for Adam and Eve / Hansel and Gretel, is the apple of William Tell that doubles as Robin Hood and Sherlock Holmes. It is the apple of the Little Mermaid, her voice she’ll donate to the Goddess of the Sea, but it is also the fruit that my Rapunzel prefers instead of turnips.
Starting from a European forest, the journey of 2017 winds through the deserts of Africa, the Arab Suq, a lake in China and the Amazon forest, from tropical islands, the American prairies and Siberian forests. The real stars, however, remain children, always accompanied by animal friends, from the different areas of the world: horses, frogs, tigers and bears, fishes and whales, moose and wolves and so on, in continuous interaction with each others.
