Final location

When, at the end of a job , of a day dedicated to the development of your pieces on site, just prior to resettle in the car to go home, when traffic is congested on the big ring road and the night is coming down, between a sandwich on the fly because you have not had lunch and the final farewell, you hear people say that in this house there’ll be also a bit ‘ of your soul, it’s then that you reach the greatest satisfaction. Larger the initial idea, the creation, production itself. Because it’s then that all doubts and fears dissolve, fears of not having fully satisfied the requirements or having to do each time better than that.
The work started from here and the furnishing has been crafted according to written information. No pictures but only ideas of how it should become the kitchen in question. Over time, the furniture was added a peninsula sink and two doors, and I was asked to deliver the items directly to the customers home. Great idea , I would say , because in addition to having met the owners of the house, two nice guys with tastes very similar to mine, I could appreciate the house itself, where are obvious taste and attention to detail of Francesca, who was able to give a touch of modern , recovery and design, using natural colors in contrast with brighter colors like greens purples and turquoises in the concrete of the toilets or in some furniture .
Setting is very interesting: the apartment is on the 6th ( top) floor of a historic Roman building. For that reason very bright with ceilings that exceed 3 meters and 50. So lofts, exposed iron beams and small balconies that overlook the Roman hills are the setting for this spacious and comfortable environment . A small fireplace decorates the living room itself, and the owner has decorated it with an old brushed wooden plank .
As always , the kitchen is the environment that struck me most: the glass iron window that separates it from the living room is in addition to the Rex oven yellow mustard, one of the details that I enjoyed the most.
And then there are the choices of Francesca, ranging from top slate kitchen, tiles hand made and decorated depicting the old grits and that will create the backsplash behind furniture and the gray concrete floor .
The house is in the process of development, I have not seen it yet over, but if these are the conditions, I’m sure the result will be perfect.
And then, because I still have two more pieces to realize, further trip to Rome may take place…

The two cabinets at the sides of the oven are very fine, because they create contrast between both materials (peeled wood and yellow enamel), both for chromatic contrast. The slate top of that dark gray, in this set is a good choice to 100%.

In the sink wall stands out the window, directly above the structure built by myself with recovered pallets and colored with the hue of the furniture. The idea came to Francesca leafing through a number of Casa Facile of May: the article taught how to make an island of pallets. As soon as I was introduced to the idea, I told her that I had already made one for my kitchen, and the game was done.
The strip of tiles that will be applied to the wall is another strength.

Above, in the last photo, there’s a solution that I often realize, and that is functional by adding originality: I apply handmade doors to Ikea base cabinets, decorated like the rest of the furniture, and finished with vintage iron handles provided by Nicole .
I must say that despite the distance and the only written communication, my mistakes measures were few and were resolved quickly, even with the help of two friends of Francesca who I met yesterday.
Thanks also to Gabriele , my co-worker in the processing in woodworking.
And special thanks to my father (and his company), without whom I would not be able neither to work the pallets, nor to transport all the material to Rome.
